EFSA Requests Comments on Draft Mechanical PET Recycling Scientific Guidance

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has launched a public consultation on an updated (draft) scientific guidance on criteria for evaluating and preparing post-consumer mechanical PET recycling process applications under Regulation (EU) 2022/1616 (the Recycled Plastics Regulation). The draft guidance sets forth 1) the evaluation criteria and the EFSA’s approach to the scientific evaluation to assess the decontamination capability of the recycling process, as well as 2) the details that must be included in the petition dossier for the evaluation of the recycling process.

Comments are due by March 20, 2024.
