China Solicits Opinions on Draft Biodegradable Voluntary National Standards

China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) requested comments on two Voluntary National Standards concerning biodegradable materials. The first standard, Biodegradable drinking straws, covers “biodegradable resins including polylactic acid (PLA), polybutylene succinate (PBS), polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT), polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), polycaprolactone (PCL), paper, and other natural polymer materials used as raw materials for preparing drinking straws.” The second standard, Degradability and identification requirements of biodegradable materials and products, stipulates the content of text identification and provided the graphic logo of biodegradable materials and products.
