The Canadian government issued a notice on July 27, 2024, requiring reporting of 312 types of  per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) manufactured, imported, or used in products above specific thresholds in the 2023 calendar year. The information will be used to establish baseline commercial use data and support future activities related to the PFAS, according to a guidance document published by Health Canada on how to respond to the notice.

The reporting requirement applies to manufacturers, importers, and users of products that contain the listed PFAS above certain thresholds during 2023. Among the exclusions are products that are only in transit through Canada, are for personal use, or are intended for laboratory use.

The reports are due by January 29, 2025.
