Philippines Food Safety Act of 2013 Implementing Rules Published

The implementing rules and regulations of Republic Act No. 10600, "An Act to Strengthen the Food Safety Regulatory System in the Country to Protect Consumer Health and Facilitate Market Access of Local Food and Food Products, and for Other Purposes," also known as the "Food Safety Act of 2013," were published in the Official Gazette on February 20, 2015.

Under the rules, food in containers with any poisonous or deleterious substance is considered adulterated. In addition, food business operators are required to establish a traceability system that includes packaging materials. A copy of the rules can be found on the Philippines government website.
